Hello everyone. I've decided to start a new topic dedicated to this exceptional robot, Thor EA, which has been meticulously developed and tested over several years. Thor EA is a straightforward trading robot with only a few adjustable inputs within its graphical interface, making it easy to understand and use for everyone. All the parameters are already set to their optimal values, so there's no need for additional tweaking unless you are using multiple robots simultaneously. In that case, you'll need to adjust just a few parameters.
Setting Up Thor EA
Magic Number
The first input you need to set in this case is the Magic Number. This number can be any number you choose and acts as a unique identifier for the robot's trades. Think of it like your personal ID number or your ID card number. Based on the magic number, Thor EA recognizes its open positions and performs all necessary operations accordingly. For instance, if a trailing stop or break-even is set, the robot first checks the magic number before moving the stop loss. Similarly, if it needs to close an active position, the robot checks the magic number before closing the position.
Global Variables
It's important to note that Thor EA uses global variables. These variables have a global impact, meaning that if you set the same magic number for two different systems, one robot might inadvertently affect the other by pulling its stop-loss or even closing its positions randomly. This is why it's crucial for each system to have its own unique magic number.
Risk Settings
The second parameter to set is the risk, i.e., the lot size per position. Adjusting the risk allows you to control the exposure of each trade according to your risk tolerance.
Order Types
The third parameter you can set if you wish, is the type of order. Thor EA supports:
- Market Orders
- Stop Orders
- Limit Orders
There is also a fourth option, Automatic, which currently only opens market orders. However, in the next update, this option will have expanded functionality.
Choosing a Strategy
Thor EA offers five predefined strategies to choose from. When you click on the drop-down list, simply select one of the strategies. By default, it is set to strategy number five. If you wish to use this robot independently on your platform, you only need to set the risk, which is preset to 0.01 lots per position.
Additional Notes
Stop Loss (SL): The SL is set a bit deeper, which is optimal for this system. However, if you are cautious about large numbers, set a lower risk. In some cases, the robot may go into a drawdown and keep positions open for up to three days.
Manual Intervention: It is not recommended to manually close positions before they meet the predefined exit rules like take profit, stop loss, or trailing stop. Doing so disrupts the system’s rhythm, although no severe consequences will occur if you choose to do so. For instance, if you are satisfied with the current profit or dissatisfied with the current drawdown and wish to close the position, you can do so.
How to Achieve the Best Results with Thor EA
Thor EA exited its development phase in early November 2023 and has since been actively used on various types of accounts with both fixed and floating spreads. For optimal use, your personal computer or private server needs to run 24/7. Alternatively, you can rent a VPS (Virtual Private Server) or VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server).
VDS Option: This option is more expensive, with prices starting at around 250 euros per month. This can be a significant investment, depending on the provider.
VPS Option: A more affordable choice is to rent a VPS with four virtual processors and 8 GB of RAM. This setup can support up to ten platforms simultaneously, running multiple robots efficiently. The cost is around 13 euros per month, making it a very economical option. The company I recommend for this service is Contabo (see picture below).

Alternative Server Solutions
Other options include renting servers from providers like AWS, Oracle, or Alibaba. Prices can vary significantly, but for our needs, Contabo is sufficient. Ensure you rent a Windows server to use the copy/paste functionality for uploading applications or any other files.

Proof of Concept
I don’t have accounts exclusively trading with Thor EA, but I do have accounts where Thor EA trades on XAUUSD, GOLD, and Gold Futures. You can check the performance of the following signal providers:

Setting Up Thor EA for Optimal Use
Assign the same risk level on each chart where Thor EA trades on XAUUSD within the H1 timeframe. For instance, if you use the robot on fifteen charts simultaneously, assign the same risk for each instance (e.g., 0.01, 0.02, or 0.03 lots). This distributes risk across five different strategies and three order types, totaling fifteen charts. Ensure each instance has a unique magic number (e.g., "One" for the first chart, "Two" for the second, etc.). Setting comments is optional (see screenshot from my VPS below).
